Jessie Gap is part of the Emily and Jessie Gaps Nature Park, located 10 Kms East of Alice Springs on the Ross Highway.
Jessie Gap and Emily Gap are separated by 8 Kms from each other. Aside from the the gap themselves, impressive features in the Nature Park include semi permanent waterholes.
Facilities in this Nature Park include short walking tracks leading to both gaps, toilets and picnic amenities. Camping is not permitted here.
To the Arrentre people, Jessie Gap is an important part of their “Caterpillar Dreaming”, which contains a story of how Alice Springs was formed.
It is unknown to this day how Jessie Gap got its name.
